Apple Store Covent Garden robbed ahead of iPhone 4S launch

Just a few days ahead of Apple’s iPhone 4S launch, a group of crims smashed in the windows of Apple’s Covent Garden Store, making off with bag-fulls of iPad 2s and other iDevices.

The attack happened early this morning, and two people were arrested at the scene, a 16 year old boy and a 21 year old man. Police are reportedly after several more suspects in the robbery, who fled the scene on mopeds.

“Although two men are in custody on suspicion of burglary, the inquiry continues and other persons are sought.” Said Detective Sergeat Nathan Tozer, of Westminster CID. “It is essential that anyone who saw the smash and grab, or the suspects making off, contact us as soon as possible.”

The total value of the pilfered goods hasn’t been revealed, but is believed to run into the thousands of pounds.
