Just when we thought the book was closed on the whole Apple vs. Samsung saga, Apple have won a second surprise injunction against the sale of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, with Australia following Germany in a sales ban of the leading Android tablet.
Much like the German ban earlier this year, the ban in Australia isn’t permanent, and just prevents Samsung from selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1s while the court considers Apple’s claims. Apple’s end goal, as stated in the previous legal tussling, is to see Samsung’s tablet sales shut down for good. “This kind of blatant copying is wrong” said an Apple spokesperson at the time. “We need to protect Apple’s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas.”
The previous injunction in Germany saw the 10.1 taken off the shelves for a week across Europe. Samsung responded with promises of getting Apple’s iPhone 4S banned before it had even launched, claiming it violated Samsung wireless patents.
