Asus Eee Pad Transformer: Android Ice Cream Sandwich update coming this month

Asus has confirmed the Asus EeePad Transformer will be getting an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later this month.

An announcement on the Asus UK Facebook page stated: A few of you have asked for a specific date on the ICS update for TF101. We don’t have an exact date yet but it should be this month. Our engineers are all back from their Chinese New Year celebrations so we will have an up to date schedule shortly.

This corresponds to comments from Asus US confirming the update for North America and Taiwan would come first in early February.

When released last year the Asus Eee Pad Transformer swiftly became the most lauded Android Honeycomb tablet. As well as packing an excellent IPS screen and dual-core Nvida Tegra chip, its removable keyboard dock turned it from a entertainment to work device within seconds.

Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, it’s successor, the Asus EeePad Transformer Prime has just been released, we’ve had one in the office and we’re really impressed, it’s certainly the best Android tablet on the market at the moment and you can read our review here.

Asus hasn’t confirmed an exact date, so we’ll bring you news as soon as we get it.
