Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime update: Force reset fixed

After reports of the Asus Transformer Prime force-reseting, Asus promised to roll out an update for the slender slate-top and today as we turned on ours, the update landed. As you can see below, we’re now rocking build number ‘IML74K.WW_epad-9.4.2.14-20120214′ – a mouthful, but it’s the ’14’ that indicates the update has been successfully installed.

Asus originally announced that this update would land earlier in February. With no update in sight however over the last week, Asus confirmed it would definitely arrive on Facebook yesterday. With our auto-update prompting us this morning, we can confirm that it has landed and in the ten minutes we’ve been using the Eee Pad Transformer Prime, it hasn’t force-reset once.

That said, truth be told despite using the Prime on a regular basis across a lot of comparisons, we only had one force-restart. Yes, that’s one too many, but is still within reason. If the Prime gets the same treatment as the original Transformer did, which is still being updated now, it will be getting many more incremental improvements well into its life-cycle, so should just keep getting better.
