Asus hints a Windows Phone is on the cards

Asus has thus far launched smartphones and tablets running exclusively on Android, but during an interview at Mobile World Congress with Pocket Lint Benson Lin, global head of Asus Handheld Division, hinted that a Microsoft handset is a possibility. “We are very close with Microsoft. When we think it is the right time of course we will do it,”.

Asus certainly has a good relationship with Microsoft and was responsible for the Windows Phone preview handsets distributed to developers by Microsoft for the platforms launch in 2010.

The tech company is currently putting all its focus on the PadStation for its new Padfone – a device running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, not to mention the Transformer and Transformer Prime tablets. So anyone looking for an Asus Windows Phone may have a little wait on their hands.

Asus is a company to watch at the moment and has released some exciting devices recently, Windows Phone is also coming through the ranks so this could be a match made in heaven – and a fresh competitor for Android.
