Asus’ new three-in-one tablet has finally got the green light for the UK and it’s bringing an enticing hybrid OS experience to the table.
The company pulled the wraps of the Trio back in September, but now we have detailed specs and an official price to dispel the speculation.
Like most Transformer tablets from Asus, the Trio consists of two parts, the tablet and the keyboard dock, except this time the latter serves a far larger purpose beyond adding some QWERTY convenience.
The tablet features an 11.6-inch Full HD IPS LCD, 16GB of inbuilt storage, front and rear cameras capable of HD video recording, 2GB of DDR2 RAM and at its heart a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail processor. All in its own right, pretty stellar stuff, but dock the tablet to the keyboard and you then open the door to a secondary experience, that’s all the more impressive.
Sure you can use the hardware keyboard and integrated trackpad to augment the Android experience, but that’s only half the story. Whilst docked, you have the ability to switch to full Windows 8.1 thanks to a ton of hardware built into the keyboard dock.
In essence the keyboard can serve as a fully-fledged Windows PC when plugged into any monitor, as well as of course, the tablet’s display. The Windows side of the Trio experience is powered by an Intel Core i5 chip and 4GB of DDR3 RAM, not to mention a 500GB hard drive.
So the final question, how much for such an intriguing hybrid device like the Asus Transformer Book Trio? £899 from retailers like John Lewis, Amazon and Ebuyer from November 11th.
