Why on earth wouldn’t we do a video review of the Asus Transformer Pad TF300? How else would you get a tangible idea of just how smooth the hinge mechanism feels, how quickly it slinks through Android 4.0 with its quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, how secure docking the slate is? When it comes to tablets that transform, Asus have well and truly got it down and while the TF300 may not be the perfect specimen of a Transformer, costing £399, it’s is a wonderful compromise for anyone hesitant to splurge the full £499 on the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime.
In addition to great specs, the other main selling point of the Transformer line is connectivity. The Asus Transformer Pad TF300 has a micro HDMI port for exporting video easily in full HD to a TV or compatible monitor. What’s more, thanks to the microSD card, the 16GB of internal memory can be expanded by 32GB, totallying 48GB.
On the dock, you’ve got even more connections in the form of afull sized SD card slot and a full sized USB port. This is perfect for anyone with a digital camera, which given the TF300’s speedy processor means you can view hi-res images very well indeed. Throw in the full keyboard and extended battery and there really is a lot to love about the TF300. We’re not crazy on the feel, especially after coming face to face with the Prime’s gorgeous metal appeal, though there’s no denying the £100 saving softens the blow nicely.
