My how the other half live. Singer Beyoncé was recently photographed at Coachella music festival sporting an Apple Watch with an exclusive gold band.
Whilst the company’s debut wearable doesn’t officially hit stores until this Friday and pre-orders are now stretching as far into 2015 as August many of the elite: notable movers and shakers including many celebrities have already been spotted sporting Apple Watches of various configurations, sometimes complete with specialised parts and pieces that are presently unavailable to the unwashed masses.
Beyoncé, aka ‘Queen B’ was snapped at Coachella music festival, which just concluded in the Colorado Desert, California. B can be seen sporting what appears to be the 38mm version of the 18-carat yellow gold Apple Watch Edition, but to top it off, her particular smartwatch also totes a matching gold variant of Apple’s Milanese loop strap, a material choice currently absent from the official list of options.
The most expensive Apple Watch Edition currently available for pre-order features the same 18-carat gold casing, with Apple’s own leather and matching gold modern-buckled strap, clocking in at an eye-watering £13,500. The standard steel Milanese loop will set you back an additional £129; however having that same strap recreated in 18-carat gold would undoubtedly add yet more cost to an already lofty price tag.
As CultOfMac points out, Jony Ive showcased a number of other custom straps in Milan just the other week, offering up more specialised options for stars and influencers, whilst celebrities like Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Drake and Sam Smith have all already been seen rocking early-release Apple Watches.
Like we said earlier, the rest of the world has to be a little more patient with Friday still the official launch day for the Apple Watch.
