The BlackBerry Curve 9320 is the latest addition to RIM’s affordable Curve smartphone range. Retailing for just £130 on pay as you go, this great value phone offers a full QWERTY keyboard, secure email and BlackBerry Messenger.

1: Convenience keys
By default the the Convenience Keys on either side of the phone are set to Camera and BlackBerry Messenger, but they are fully customisable. Click Settings – Convenience Keys and use the drop-down menus to assign your most used features to either key. Choices include: Browser, Apps (including Facebook) and Messages.
2: Email shortcuts
A highlight of the Curve 9320 is BlackBerry email, but the phone doesn’t have a touchscreen, so performing simple tasks can be laborious as you have to to press the BlackBerry button and scroll through the menu options. Luckily within mail there are many time-saving shortcuts. Press ‘C’ to compose a message, ‘Enter’ to open a message, ‘R’ to reply and a press of ‘T’ jumps straight to the top of the message list.
3: BlackBerry Protect
BlackBerry Protect is a free app you can download from BlackBerry App World, which automatically backs up and tracks your phone, in the unfortunate event of it being mislaid. Visit the BlackBerry Protect website, log-in with your BlackBerry ID and you can view the phones location on a map, play a sound, display a message, lock or wipe it.
4: Auto On/Off
BlackBerry mobile phones include a clever features whereby they turn on or off at specific times – you may want to turn the phone on so it can start downloading messages 10 minutes before you wake up. Go to Options – Device – Auto On/Off and use drop-down menus to select On and Off times for weekdays and the weekend.
5: Homescreen customisation
BlackBerry mobile phones might not offer the flexibility of an Android or iOS operating systems, but there is a surprisingly amount of customisation available. For example you can change the font style and size by going to Options – Display – Screen Display.
Remove any of the five homescreens (Media, Downloads, Frequent and Favourite) bygoing to: Options – Display – Home screen preferences – Manage panels.
