Blackberry Messenger 6 launches with enhanced social integration

RIM has announced that the latest version of BlackBerry Messenger is now available, Blackberry Messenger 6 which brings support for connected apps, enhancing integration between Blackberry Messenger and applications.

Now as well as communication the conventional way via message, BBM users will be able to interact with their friends within other applications, these include FourSquare, Poynt, Pocket Ants, the Huffington Post, Jingu, Backgammon King and Telemap.

For example when playing a game users will be able to invite friends to play and chat in real time. In FourSquare when users check in, they can share their locations with friends on BBM know and send them messages, as well as adding badges to their profile.

In augmented reality app Wikitude World Browser, you can see contacts close by, then by panning using the phone you can even see them.

Users can share apps they like, chat within apps and discover new apps, which are posted to friends profiles simply by clicking on them to download.

Other features of Blackberry Messenger 6 include:

• Enhanced Location Sending with customized search and sharing
• Send events and appointments to BBM contacts
• Draft BBM message support
• Updated support for sending links, podcasts, location in BBM Groups

Blackberry Messenger 6 is available to download now from Blackberry App World  and connected apps will be posted on the Blackberry App World later this week.
