The successor to the BlackBerry Passport, revealed as the BlackBerry Oslo, has been leaked in full with photos and specs detailed.
You may remember back in April when BlackBerry’s entire 2015 product line up was leaked via Chinese social media site Weibo. Well, Blackberry’s luck continues to suffer as the BlackBerry Oslo, a new wide-body QWERTY handset, has been revealed in full before its official launch.
BlackBerry’s Oslo is set to become the company’s successor to the Passport, a device which polarised opinion with its unwieldy form factor and somewhat unusual design.
The Oslo looks set to emulate the design language of its predecessor with the same wide body and physical QWERTY keyboard placed into the lower end of the chassis. The rear of the device looks to have a textured, rubberised coating and the body seems to be crafted from metal – which should at least give the device a premium feel in the hand, even if it’s a little tricky to get to grips with.
These latest leaked specs also corroborate the earlier rumours, which claimed the BlackBerry Oslo would rock a 13-megapixel primary camera. However, they stop short of revealing any real details about the device’s display, which is rumoured to be 1440×1440.
Inside, the BlackBerry Oslo will come packing a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 chip, 3GB RAM and a 3,450mAh battery which should be good for a fair bit of speed and uptime, going on ‘Berry’s track record.
The software side of things will be taken care of by BlackBerry OS 10.3.2, which includes BlackBerry Protect, a facility for remotely wiping and/or recovering a lost or stolen device. And as usual you can expect the company’s latest browser and security features.
There’s no official word on when we can expect to see BlackBerry’s Oslo in the wild – or any of the company’s other new additions, for that matter. However, we’d expect an official launch in the coming month or so.
