Samsung’s official Twitter account has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S II will be released in April as planned- indicating there is no delay to their schedule.
Last month, delay worries stemmed from news that Samsung’s own factories were struggling to prepare the number of dual-core chipsets needed for release. Nvidia will now be powering some Galaxy S II handsets.
The Galaxy S II will now come with a faster processor, according to Samsung Estonia, with a dual-core 1.2GHz.
Whether it’ll give a visible difference compared to other dual-cores remains to be seen- but we’re certain most of the dual-core phones incoming will make our current phones look very sluggish. It will also match the rumoured specs of potential rival, the HTC Sensation, which we’re hoping to hear more about next week.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is a thinner, lighter, more powerful sequel to the Galaxy S. It looks to be the tinnest phone available in the UK on launch, so that means it’ll be thinner than your mate’s iPhone. The screen will also feature Samsung’s latest Super AMOLED plus, and have both rear-facing and front-facing cameras.
In a second tweet to clarify, Samsung added that, “it will be gradually rolled out in each market according to the local launch timetable.”
What does that mean for the UK? Several pre-order sites shifted their expected delivery dates to May last month, but we’ve contacted a spokesperson at Samsung and are waiting for a response.
