The Disgo brand doesn’t have the same notoriety as say, Samsung’s Galaxy Tabs or the likes of Google’s Nexus 7 and 10, but what it does offer is a range of some of the most affordable Android tablets around and that trend continues with the introduction of the Disgo 8400G.
The 8400G stands as a bit of a landmark in the brand’s history as it’ll be the first of the company’s devices to support 3G and WiFi, making for a truly connected experience when it launches in the coming weeks. It’s also the first time that the company have employed Qualcomm’s popular Snapdragon S4 chipset and is the first of their tablets to offer access to the 800,000 app strong Google Play. So what else does the 8400G feature.
What specifications does the Disgo 8400G offer?
In addition to the bare specs, our first encounter with the Disgo 8400G revealed that it supports phone-centric SIM cards as opposed to simply data-only SIMs more typically found in tablets, allowing users the ability to send and receives calls and texts, something not even the iPad Mini can offer.

What operating system does it run?
The 8400G pushed for the most up-to-date version of Android it could muster and as such comes running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, complete with Google Now and access to the Google Play store. Upgradability beyond 4.1.2 hasn’t been discussed.
What are the alternatives?
Naturally the size and specs point us in the direction of the low-end tablet market, but more premium options like the Google Nexus 7 with its HD display and quad-core processor shouldn’t be discounted. As the 8400G also features phone functionality and a dual-core processor the original Galaxy Note might suit some who want a hybrid phablet device with the added value of pen input.
When does the Disgo 8400G launch?
The Disgo 8400G should be available in store and online from retailers such as Currys/PC World and Amazon within the UK and Ireland from the end of March.
How much will the Disgo 8400G cost?
For a near 8-inch 3G tablet featuring a Snapdragon S4 processor, you’d be forgiven for expecting a price tag around the £200 mark to undercut the likes of the 3G-savvy Nexus 7, but the conservative hardware has allowed the Disgo to hit the market at just £149.99.
