Domino’s Pizza promises free food for Foursquare mayors

I probably shouldn’t be proud of the fact that I’m the Foursquare mayor of both the Kebabery AND the Fish Inn II in my hometown of Bishop’s Stortford. But I am. Even if it hasn’t as yet got me any free chips.

It might be time to switch to more Italian fare. Domino’s Pizza has just announced a deal here in the UK with social location app Foursquare, which will see the mayors of individual outlets getting a free pizza once a week.

What’s more, any Foursquare user will be able to get a free side dish if they spend more than a tenner at their local Domino’s.

It’s one of the first time us Brits have got a sniff at Foursquare-fuelled discounts, which have so far been restricted to the US. Starbucks recently announced that mayors of its outlets would get cheap Frappucinos, for example.

The more of these deals there are, the better for Foursquare and rivals like Gowalla and Rummble. The novelty of earning points for check-ins only goes so far, but actually getting cheap or free stuff could help them sign up even more people.
