4G for smartphone addicts is the promised-land. Allowing for online-accessing shenanigans at rates rivalling some kind of electronic equivalent of Speedy Gonzales, now even those short of cash can afford a phone on the UK’s biggest and briskest network with EE’s new entry level offers.

Essentially, from today, customers signing up to any of EE’s new 24-month plans will receive the option of a free 4G handset, 500MB of mobile data, and an inclusive minutes and text allowance, all for a piffling £13.99 per month.

And as though that alone wasn’t enough, EE has also announced that it will shortly be launching the country’s cheapest 4G-going smartphone, the Kestrel.

Kestrel super-strength

No, not a silly strength Scottish lager, but an Android-powered affair offering a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400), large 4.5-inch QHD display, HD Voice compatibility and CAT 4 capability. The Kestrel has been designed from the ground up for EE 4G. The first of the firm’s oncoming onslaught of own-brand options, the Kestrel will be available in April for £99, or free on pay monthly.

“At EE, we’re continually looking for new ways to make a quality 4G experience accessible to all,” said Pippa Dunn, Chief Marketing Officer for Consumer at EE. “By introducing the UK’s lowest price 4G smartphone, and great value entry-level plans, even more customers will now have the ability to access the UK’s most advanced 4G network and reap the benefits it offers.”

So, more affordable 4G for all and a hover-hunter bird handset from free, with EE’s 4G service now available across 70% of the UK there’s no longer any excuse not to pick up your smart-surfing pace.
