EtchPad: Etch A Sketch finds its digital home on the iPad

This isn’t the smartest iPad app we’ve seen so far or the best designed, but it’s plucked our retro-loving heart strings. We doubt Arthur Granjean, the Etch A Sketch’s inventor, ever imagined that his toy would end up as an iPad app (video below) but it seems rather fitting – old school portable toy meets new school portable toy.

According to EtchPad’s developer Jake Moore, you can save your drawings and you can even shake your iPad to erase a drawing, just as you could on the original Etch A Sketch. There are also email and Twitter sharing capabilities should you want to show off your creation to your friends. It costs £1.19 [download link].
