After the initial torrent of deals, Facebook Deals went off the boil. Now the Odeon cinema group is the latest to partner the Foursquare rival.
Pitching itself as the ‘ultimate free cinema accompaniment’, you may be slightly disappointed to discover that equates to a small free popcorn- with a choice between sweet or salted, mind.
Odeon have 1000 free popcorn on offer across their cinemas, with the offer running from February 25th until March 31 2011, or until they run out.
Sales and marketing Director of the cinema chain said, “At Odeon, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to enhance the cinema experience for our guests.
“We’re hugely excited about using social media to engage with film fans and proud to be the first cinema chain to utilise the Facebook Deals platform to reward guests for coming to Odeon.”
Odeon are also looking to promote their own Facebook page and recently released Odeon app.
It’s been pretty quiet from Facebook, following the big launch of its Facebook Places and Deal functions. Early offers finished almost as suddenly as they began, especially for popular casual purchases, like food and drink. (Sadly, the free Starbucks coffee ‘offer’ that we tried ourselves ran only on launch day!)
We’re hoping that Facebook Deals are going continue to keep people interested in “checking in”, but they’re going to have to do better than a small popcorn freebie. Where’s something to rival two-for-one Orange Wednesdays?
