Android users will now be able to access more features of Pages in Facebook thanks to the latest update: v1.6.1.
Announced via the Facebook for Android page, along with the usual bug fixes the update makes some useful changes to Pages, includes the following enhancements:
– Improved Pages support
– The ability to view a list of Pages you ‘Like’ along with admin pages
– Post as a Page you admin
– Tag Pages in status updates
This update follows a more significant one in June, which initially added the ability to view Pages, along with much welcome video uploads and a redesigned news feed.
We downloaded the application to our Samsung Galaxy S II and our initial thoughts are that it seems a little bit slower – there’s certainly more ‘thinking’ time when you click the top right button to swap between areas such as Pages, Links and Events.
The ability to tag Pages so they appear as a direct link simply by using @ in status updates is particularly useful.
Facebook for Android is certainly much slicker than the current version of the app available for iPhone, which still doesn’t even let you view Pages and lacks features like the top Chat bar, thumbnails on the main menu and birthdays in Events.
