Firefox Mobile for the Nokia N900 hands-on

Mozilla’s Firefox browser has made a name for itself for being an extremely handy desktop browser which offers a variety of add-ons. Now Mozilla has created Firefox Mobile for phones and we’ve been playing around with it for a few days to see if it lives up to its desktop counterpart. The first mobile version of Firefox is only available for the Nokia N900 but other versions, including one for Android, are due to come out.

Firefox Mobile offers a very simple layout with a hidden menu system which appears when you slide a page left or right. It’s full of nice ideas and we really like being able to download add-ons but overall it wasn’t as smooth an experience as we expected. As Firefox Mobile is relatively new and it’s free we’ll cut it some slack – we’ll expect more in the future though. You can download it by visiting this link on your N900.
