The N.O.V.A. series has risen through the ranks from a Halo clone for the mobile gamer, to a true FPS shooter franchise in its own right. Publisher Gameloft has just released the first teaser image and video promoting third instalment in the series, N.O.V.A. 3.
With its predecessors praised for their technical excellence in terms of both gameplay and visuals, N.O.V.A 3 has a lot to live up to. N.O.V.A. 2 took steps to enter into the same territory as fully-fledged console shooters, with a fleshed-out, lengthy solo campaign and a pretty comprehensive online multiplayer mode, which spanned across ten different maps.
Although the concept may not be the most original (there are a fair few space themed first person shooters out there), the execution is where this series really shines. And based on the teaser trailer it looks as though players will be revisiting the shoes of Captain Kal Wardin in an attempt to destroy the bad guys and traverse alien lands with an array of new weapons at his disposal, all in glorious HD of course.
The app, which is scheduled to come to both iOS and Android devices, doesn’t yet have a launch date or pricing, but it’s worth keeping an eye on Gameloft’s Facebook page as any such news will likely appear on there very soon. Of course we’ll bring your news as soon as we get it.
