Google will release a tweaked version of Glass ‘later this year’

Google hasn’t even publically released Glass yet, but the company already has a new version of the wearable device. Ars Technica reports that the search giant has made some notable changes to the headset, including compatibility with prescription lenses.

Audio will also be delivered via a mono earbud on the new version of Glass. The current Explorer Edition makes use of bone conduction, but wearers say that it doesn’t work all that well. Google didn’t give an exact date for the release of the new Explorer model, but did say that those who already own a unit will be able to swap their unit out for free.

Oh, and Explorers can now invite up to three friends to use Glass too… if they have the required $1,500, anyway.
