Google Nexus Prime gets Bluetooth certification, coming soon

The next iteration of Google’s Nexus smartphones might be just around the corner, with new reports suggesting that the Samsung-produced handset was just granted its Bluetooth certification, a final stage in a smartphone’s production that usually signifies shipping is about to start.

The Nexus Prime will be the first handset to launch with Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android. Specs are still speculative at present, but the rumour mill suggests the Nexus Prime will launch with an 800×480 pixel Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM, making it a new Android flagship running alongside the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the new HTC Sensation XE.

There’s no firm date on when we can expect the next Google phone to make an appearance, either here or in the States, but we’d be surprised if Google didn’t make announcement in the next couple of weeks, before everyone gets too caught up in the media storm around Apple’s next iPhone.
