Google Places comes to iPhone, complete with Hotpot feature

When Google makes new mobile apps nowadays, chances are they’ll launch on Android first. Unsurprising, really. However, they generally do make their way to iPhone at some point.

Latitude made the leap recently, and now Google Places has followed. The app lets you search for local restaurants, cafes, bars and other venues, based on your location.

However, the clever features come with a feature called Hotpot. It lets you rate the places that you visit, giving your opinion on, say, their delicious/rancid chicken wings or their marvellous/lacklustre cocktails.

The ratings then feed into Hotpot, which Google describes as a ‘personalised recommendation engine’ that will tell you about other places you might like, based on your ratings. What’s more, you can add your friends – via Google Contacts – to see what they’ve been reviewing too.
