Those clever folk at Google are always working on the next big thing and their latest concept, codenamed Project Glass, imagines a world where what you can interact with the things you see through your glasses and stay in touch with friends without reaching for your smartphone.
Even though Project Glass is still a concept on the drawing board, the folks behind it decided to share it with the world to get some feedback.
“A group of us from Google started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment,” said an announcement on Google+. “We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input.”
The team has gone a lot further than simply creating some design photos to show off what the technology could look like.
A full concept video demonstrates how what you see could help you plan your life, from seeing the weather forecast as you look out the window, to picking up travel delay news before you go down into the underground station or booking tickets for a gig you’ve seen on a poster.
“Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?” asks the Google+ piece and some users on YouTube have already given their thoughts.
“What about a modification with a gaming HUD? That would be definitely the death of the consoles,” said YouTube user Kritzien.
There were some doubters, though. “Not pictured: the thousands of adsense ads that would show up for every business you’d walk past,” said yardbirdsweet, while Ember121Scorpio added “Is it just me or are we getting lazier as a species?”
Great question Ember121Scorpio. We’re going to have to ask Siri.
