GTA: San Andreas is coming to iOS, Android, and Windows Phone

Rockstar has done a good job of porting its older titles – like Max Payne – to iOS and Android, and its continuing the trend with another GTA title. The company has announced that it will soon release GTA: San Andreas on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Fire OS (Amazon’s forked version of Android for Kindle Fire devices) sometime in December.

The revamped version of San Andreas will feature overhauled graphics, including a much further draw distance, “enhanced” character and car models, plus detailed shadows and dynamic lighting. It’s been a long time since the game was originally released on the PS2, so it stands to reason today’s mobile devices are capable of running a slightly more graphically intense version of the game.

Rockstar also says that it’s reworked the way controls work on mobile. On screen buttons will only be shown when players need them, and driving in the game’s numerous vehicles has also been reworked. In addition, Rockstar says that it’s adding support for iOS 7 controllers such as the Logitech PowerShell.

Current GTA titles sell for £2.99 on the App Store and Play Store, so San Andreas should cost roughly the same when it’s released in December. There’s no firm date for the launch, however.
