Windows Phone 8X by HTC hands-on

The HTC 8X is not only HTC’s flagship Windows Phone 8 handset it’s also one of the nicest looking phones we’ve seen in recent memory.

HTC has pulled off a nice balancing act here. Though svelte (66 x 132 x 10 mm), the 8X packs a roomy 4.3-inch screen. That screen has a display resolution of 1280×720 (720p), boasts strong viewing angles and is protected by Gorilla Glass 2.

As for the phone itself, the HTC 8X features a pillowed back with a matt finish which is both eye catching and makes for a great fit in the hand. It’s also rather pocket-conspicuous, so while it’s a phone with a big old touchscreen it won’t spoil the lining of your trendy jeans or take up much precious bag real estate.

Available in red, blue, yellow as well as the regulation black, the HTC 8X adds a dash of colour to the Windows Phone line up.

Looking very nice indeed there’s plenty of power beneath the hood too. The 8-megapixel camera has a BSI (back side illumination) sensor providing better light capture in dim areas and an f/2.0 lens allowing you to capture more detail. In our review we’ve posted several shots we’ve taken with the 8X showing off its camera credentials.
