HTC ChaCha video review

The ChaCha is one of two Facebook centric handsets brought out by HTC this year, but while the HTC Salsa retained the large touchscreen, the ChaCha is a slightly different proposition. Offering a full QWERTY keyboard and 2.8-inch touchscreen combo, all encased in an eye-catching white body, with a distinctive ‘chin’ keyboard that juts out slightly to fit the curves of your face.

Pitched as a mid-range smartphone, the HTC ChaCha has an 800Mhz processor with 512Mb RAM, to ensure it never feels slow. Storage is also 512MB, which can be expanded using a microSD card, connections include a 3.5mm jack, WiFi and 3G.

Androird 2.3 Gingerbread is pre-installed on the device, along with a new version of HTC Sense, which has been adapted for the smaller screen, enabling you to customise homescreens with apps and widgets.

The most striking thing about the ChaCha is the Facebook button. Instead of going for a deeply integrated Facebook experience like the INQ Cloud Touch, here the experience is more subtle. If you’re in Maps tap the button to update your status with coordinates, while if your in Photos, a quick tap lets you upload snaps from the 5-megapixel camera to Facebook.
