HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle in a nutshell: Specs, UK info and more

HTC has just launched the Desire 10 Lifestyle, a photography-focused budget mobile with a gorgeous metallic design, along with its more premium brother the Desire 10 Pro. Here’s everything you need to know about the the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle, including the phone specs, UK price and release date.

What is the HTC Desire 10, and what’s the difference between the Lifestyle and Pro models?

We’re big fans of the HTC 10, an all-round slab of brilliance in a tough-yet-attractive metal unibody. That’s why we’re interested to check out the new HTC Desire 10 phones, a pair of good-looking 5.5-inch metallic mobiles that should come with an affordable asking price.

Boasting an attractive matte white or black finish highlighted by some shiny gold trim, the Desire 10 Lifestyle and Pro really stand out from the crowd.

However, while the Pro and Lifestyle look very similar, the Lifestyle features more basic specs and features to drag down the asking price. This means the HTC Desire 10 family is rather like Motorola’s Moto G4 handsets, with a very similar look and feel but differing specs.

What are the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle’s best features?

The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle is going to sit somewhere between budget and mid-range, packing quite basic specs but still offering a solid camera experience and decent media chops, packed inside an attractive metallic frame.

Its 5.5-inch display with 720p HD resolution means it’ll be a decent choice for anyone who wants to enjoy video on a budget, although visuals won’t be quite as crisp as on the Moto G4 or the Desire 10 Pro. Meanwhile HTC’s patented BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition speakers should hopefully pump out some good-sounding audio, straight at your face.

However, like the Moto G4, the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle doesn’t come packing a fingerprint sensor – something that’s restricted to the Desire 10 Pro.

Packed inside the Desire 10 Lifestyle you get a pretty basic Snapdragon 400 processor, backed by 2GB or 3GB of RAM. This should hopefully run Android Marshmallow acceptably, although you can expect some chug from the latest games. We’re pleased to see the return of HTC’s Freestyle desktops feature too, which allows you to place super-sized and mini icons wherever you want.

As for the cameras, there’s a 13-megapixel snapper poised on the rear of the Desire 10 Lifestyle with a f/2.2 aperture and BSi sensor for improved low light photography. We’re hoping that it’s a reliable shooter for everyday photos, along with the 5-megapixel selfie camera.

What is the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle’s UK price and release date?

The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle will be released in the UK in September although we don’t currently have a UK price, or details of which networks will be stocking it. We’ll update as soon as we do.
