HTC is preparing its HTC One flagship for launch in markets across the globe, but that doesn’t mean it’s neglecting fans of the brand in other price segments, most recently reflected with the release of the HTC One SV here in the UK and now two new devices destined for the China Mobile in the form of the HTC Desire P and HTC Desire Q.
The two new handset’s bolster HTC’s mid-range device lineup in a huge market which has in recent years seen a huge uptake in smartphone brands from other countries including Samsung and Apple. The upper tier of these two devices is the Desire P: an HTC One SV lookalike which upps some specs whilst reigns in other.
The processor under the P’s hood is a 1GHz dual-core chip, and alongside inbuilt storage (no word on how much) there’s room for removable microSD functionality, we suspect up to 32GB, just like the One SV. Design wise and hardware layout is also similar, with the same smooth curved back, a centrally positioned, but higher resolution 8-megapixel camera and on the front a 4.3-inch WVGA LCD panel. To round things off the Desire P totes HTC’s ever present Beats Audio integration and will be available for approximately $365 according to UnwiredView.
Underneath the Desire P sits the Desire Q: a more conservative Android handset which feels reminiscent of the Desire X by design. The Q will retail for around $100 less than the P but as a result will feature a smaller 4-inch display as well as red, black and white colour options. Unlike the One SV and Desire X, we’re hoping that as a result of their age, these new handsets will launch with Android Jelly Bean and Sense 4+ at the very least, but we can’t be sure right now.
