HTC Edge: Quad-Core phone specs and pic leak

Pictures have appeared showing the HTC Edge, which is apparently the world’s first smartphone with a quad-core processor, including Tegra 3.

Pocket-now has a picture and specification information on the phone, which appears seems to be the successor to the HTC Sensation XE and HTC Sensation XL and includes Beats Audio. But has a AP30 Tegra 3 CPU from Nvidia, which includes four 1.5Ghz cores, this is backed up by 1GB RAM.

The phone is 10mm deep and there’s 4.7-inch screen with a 720p HD resolution. Elsewhere there’s an 8-megapixel camera with a bright f/2 28mm lens.

Internal storage is 32GB and HSDPA speeds are 21Mbps and there’s Bluetooth radio.

Edge could also be the launch platform for HTC’s content services – simuilar to Samsung’s Hubs – such as HTC Read (books), HTC Listen (music) HTC Play (games) and HTC Watch (movies).

Of course the HTC Edge isn’t official yet – and it’s may be called something different for the UK – but it’s apparently due to arrive in the US late Q1 and early Q2 2012. There’s no news on whether we’ll get this in the UK next.

What do you think of the HTC Edge? Do we really need a quad core chip on our phones? Let us know below of via Twitter or Facebook.
