HTC Explorer pics leak online

UPDATE: Press shots of yet another upcoming HTC mobile, this time the HTC Explorer, have appeared on the interweb, courtesy of the folks at Pocketnow.com.

Previously known as the HTC Pico, the HTC Explorer will reportedly come running Android Gingerbread and be clothed in the usual HTC Sense overlay. Its outer shell comprises a textured rubber body (available in either black or blue) and a brushed aluminium camera, which we’re hearing will snap photos at 5MP.

Sporting a 600MHz processor and a 3.2-inch touchscreen, the Explorer is clearly gunning for the budget-friendly end of the market, currently catered to by the HTC Wildfire S. There’s no word on pricing or a release date as yet, but with the HTC Wildfire S currently selling for around £15-£20 per month on contract, we’d expect the Explorer to fall into the same bracket.

UPDATE

The folks at Clove.co.uk have confirmed that the Explorer will indeed be available in black or blue casings in the UK from November. Also included with the phone will be a data control app that keeps an eye on how much 3G data users are getting through, so those picking the Explorer up on cheaper, less data-heavy contracts won’t accidentally burn through their whole allowance watching YouTube videos.
