HTC Flyer: 7-inch tablet available for pre-order, £599.99

As several Android tablets begin to creep out from hiding, the HTC Flyer is the latest to be nearing the shop shelf finish line- maybe by the start of May.

Spotted online first at UK electronics retailer, Dixons at the weekend, now Carphone Warehouse have announced that seven-inch HTC Flyer is available for pre-order, and you can do that here.

The price? A teeth-sucking £599.99.  CPW have even gone as far as to give us an arrival date of early May.

No news just yet as to whether the Flyer may see a tiny price-drop, like the Motorola Xoom’s £20 price-cut days before its launch.

We’re sure Dixons’ placeholder will also transform into a pre-order page in the near-future; presumeably with a similar price-tag.

The HTC Flyer has a single-core 1.5GHz processor, and comes with its own stylus pen, the HTC Scribe, meaning that you can draw on-screen without it resembling a finger-painted mess. You can take immediate screenshots and then append and annotate to your heart’s desire.

HTC’s first ever tablet, the slightly smaller seven-inch screen should also make the Flyer more portable than most of its tablet rivals. There’s also dual speakers (take that iPad), and a rear-facing five-megapixel camera that can record 720p HD video.
