HTC One (M8) Prime: All the facts

We round up all the rumours on the HTC One (M8) Prime, an updated, waterproof version of the original HTC One (M8), including UK price and release date, news and leaks.

Oh, look. We’ve only just been hearing rumours of a ‘Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime‘ (basically the original Galaxy S5 with a nicer metal design and improved specs), and now there’s talk of an HTC One (M8) Prime too. Both phones have only been around for a couple of months (the HTC One (M8) landed in the UK at the end of March) but we all know how fast smartphone tech moves, and the HTC One M8 Prime should be launched around or before IFA in September. Here’s our full rumour round-up.

HTC One M8 Prime could hit the UK soon, with a waterproof body and updated specs. Here's our full news, specs and rumours round-up.

HTC One (M8) Prime design

We bloody love the HTC One (M8)’s gorgeous metallic design, but the One (M8) Prime should go one step further with a funky aluminium/liquid silicone composite frame. Apparently it’ll be water-resistant like the Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5, so you can fiddle with it in the bath. Hooray!

The following tease-render appeared on @evleaks’ Twitter feed, revealing a strange new orange band around the camera lens, as well as the usual Duo Camera.

HTC One (M8) Prime specs

As with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, the HTC One (M8) Prime should rock some top-end specs. A quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and a WQHD screen if internet rumours are anything to go by.

You can also expect a Cat. 6 LTE modem, something now rumoured to appear in the Galaxy S5 Prime too, which allows you to download full-length movies in under half a minute – providing your network can handle it.

The HTC One (M8) Prime should also be the first to sport HTC Sense 6.5, which should add some tweaks and new features to the existing interface – although so far we’ve got no idea what.

HTC One (M8) UK price and release date

Expect the One (M8) Prime to launch for £500-£550 in the UK. HTC normally reveals its new flagships outside of major smartphone events such as MWC and IFA, but quite close to the date. So, we’d expect to see the One (M8) Prime appear around September time at the latest.

In the meantime, what do you think? If you’re thinking of splashing out on an HTC One, would this sway you to wait a few more months? Let us know in the comments.
