HTC announced yesterday that they are opening up their HTC Sense software to app developers.
Labelled HTCDev, several big developers have already taken advantage of the extra features, including Google, LinkedIn and Gameloft.
One app from photo-sharing site, Picasa, connects to your Sense gallery on HTC phones, and shares them online, while a Zoodles app is an artistic offering to take advantage of the HTC Flyer stylus.
New apps developed will also be able to take advantage of new features found on HTC Sense 3.0, an update currently available only on the HTC Sensation, like the quick-launch lock screen and 3D display for future 3D-compatible phones. (What’s that? More news on the HTC Evo?)
The HTCDev site goes live soon, but it won’t be the first time manufacturers have toyed with the Android Market for specific handsets.
Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play has its own selection of optimised games, aside from PlayStation Store offerings, while the Tegra Zone is an app in itself, offering high-end mobile gaming for tablets and smartphones packing Tegra 2 chips from Nvidia.
