It’s hard to decide whether HTC’s codenames are more or less ridiculous than the final handset names – namely the ChaCha, and Salsa – but don’t expect to see the Runnymeade emblazoned on phone-shop displays according to Handtec, who’ve posted a product page for the Android phone, it’ll be known as the HTC Bass.
It’s a pretty sensible choice, given HTC’s recent Beats Audio alliance – there’s even a Beats logo on the back, just like the forthcoming HTC Sensation XE.
Specifications for the phone, which is now infinitely cooler if this name-change sticks, include a HTC Titan-rivalling 4.7-inch screen and powered with a 1.5GHz single-core processor and a 768MB of RAM. It’s rumoured you’ll get a choice of storage between 16GB or 32GB.
On the back, there’s an eight-megapixel snapper with dual flash. and we suspect all that Beats Audio functionality will be baked inside too, though there’s no news yet as to whether there’ll be Beats headphones in the box.
