HTC Sense 5 coming to HTC One X+, HTC One X, HTC One S and more

It was only days ahead of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that HTC hosted their London launch party for the company’s new flagship the HTC One. Along with a myriad of new features like its 4.3-Ultrapixel camera and Full HD display, the new top notch Android smartphone also debuted the latest iteration of the company’s Android overlay: HTC Sense 5 and now we hear that the same UI will be making its way to some of the company’s top handsets of last year.

HTC will be offering upgrades to some of its existing devices in the next few months

Android Police spotted a response from HTC’s official Facebook page to an HTC One X user who’d asked, “The new Sense 5 will come to HTC One X? ” The company commented that indeed the HTC One X would see an update to the new version of Sense along with other HTCs currently available in the UK such as the HTC One X+ and HTC One S as well the HTC Butterfly which is available in markets elsewhere in the world.

HTC will be offering upgrades to some of its existing devices in the next few months, including global variants of HTC One X, One X+, One S and the HTC Butterfly. Also, note that some features enabled by the new HTC One hardware will not be available in the software updates.

As the response points out, not all the features of Sense 5 which we encountered on the HTC One will make their way to the older product lineup, however we suspect key aspects of the newest user experience such as BlinkFeed, the newly designed widgets and icons, as well as the capability of ZOE photos should all feature when the update hits user’s devices in the coming months.

Should your HTC show signs of an update, do let us know and give us your impressions of Sense 5: a step in the right direction or an unnecessary restructuring of an already convoluted Android user experience?
