HTC shift 13.2 million handsets in Q3

We were curious the other day to see exactly where HTC stood in the grand scheme of things after we saw Samsung’s smartphone success, and now we have the answer.

During Q3 HTC managed to ship 13.2 million handsets, up 93% on the year before, with net income up 68% over the same period. Smartphone sales in general are exploding, and HTC are saying their success is due to “strong brand recognition” and a “leading product portfolio”. Notably mentioned is the Sensation branding along with the introduction of Beats Audio on devices like the Sensation XE and XL.

HTC may have had a record breaking quarter, but they’re being cautious with their estimates going forward, predicting during Q4 they’ll shift between 12 and 13 million handsets. We say “cautious”, but that’s still a lot of hardware.
