Huawei’s Honor range of smartphones have already been available in the Asian markets for some time now, but it seems that these slick handsets are finally hitting the UK.
Huawei has set up a website with the tagline ‘For the Brave’, featuring a clock counting down to the company’s big Honor launch in Berlin, scheduled for tomorrow. If the teaser site is anything to go by, the devices on show resemble the Huawei Honor 6, which has received resoundingly positive reviews from the Asian press so far.
If this does turn out to be the case, then the new Honor smartphone could come packing a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor, 13-megapixel camera and almost three days’ worth of power from its 3100mAh cell.
It’s likely that the device will be running on Android 4.4 KitKat, rather than 5.0 Lollipop. Knowing Huawei, the Honor will rock a heavy custom interface too, which means upgrading to Lollipop may take some time.
It’s been a sadly mixed year for Huawei. Back in June, the Ascend P7 hit British soil costing less than £300 but received middling reviews, mostly due to poor battery life and screen performance. However, the recently-launched Ascend Mate 7 is a slick little phablet, packing a gorgeous Full HD screen, while the Ascend G6 4G, released by EE as the Kestrel, is one of the best and most affordable 4G phones we’ve seen this year.
If you want to keep abreast of any news, there’s an HonorEU twitter account which has posted a few sneaky hints and videos over the past week, and the hashtag #forthebrave will probably blow up after the device has launched. Check out the teaser vid below, which gives little away except for a rear shot right at the end.
