Ice Cream Sandwich icons suggest built-in photo editing in the Gallery app

As well as the new-look Music player, Tron-style UI and the mooted Music store set to take on iTunes, Amazon and the world, it looks like Google will be significantly upgrading the native Photo Gallery app of devices running Ice Cream Sandwich.

The guys over on Android Police have gotten hold of a feature list that’s apparently been ripped straight from Ice Cream Sandwich and it shows a brace of icons for post-photography editing tools such as crop, rotate and red-eye reduction. There also looks to be options to straighten up, sharpen and flip/mirror pictures.

As well as this, there looks to be at least 19 new photo effects that can be added alongside existing photo filters (sepia, negative and the rest) giving you an HTC/Hipstamatic-esque level of filter options across all Android devices.

The filters look to be controlled by a slider bar, which will allow you to add subtle lighting and vignette effects, or go for full blown colour saturation, depending on what mood you’re in.

LG’s Android camera phones generally come with a decent number of photo editing options and HTC usually bungs in an exhaustive range of fun effect filters. This ought to ensure that all Ice Cream Sandwich devices get the best of both worlds as standard.

This also means that you’ll be able to straighten up your vanity profile pics before uploading them to Facebook instead of having to put them all in Photoshop first.

Ice Cream Sandwich is less than two days away now. We we we so excited.
