Ice Cream Sandwich launching late October says Notion Ink CEO

Eric Schmidt revealed two weeks ago that the next version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, would be released in October/November, and now Notion Ink’s CEO Rohan Shravan has further narrowed down the release window.

Talking on the Notion Ink blog, Shravan revealed that Ice Cream Sandwich would indeed launch in late October, with Google having already seeded builds to OEMs and chip vendor partners. He confirmed ICS update would land on the Notion Ink Adam tablet in November, although unfortunately this tablet has never been available in the UK.

Interestingly  he also goes on to note that Texas Instruments OMAP processors are the “preferred platform”, and those devices will see Ice Cream Sandwich before Nvida’s Tegra chip.

Shravan previously outed the release of Gingerbread just a few days before the official release, and the information falls in line with Eric Schmidt’s comment as well as recent rumours.

Google’s next flagship device which will be running Ice Cream Sandwich will apparently be the Nexus Prime, which is currently slated for a late October/early November release – just in time to take on the next iPhone.

Check out our full rundown on Ice Cream Sandwich for what you could look forward to.
