Instagram app for Android better than iOS?

Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrome has gone out on a limb and said that the Android Instagram app is, “in some ways better than the iOS version”. While celebrating hitting 27 million users, Systrome took the recent SXSW as an opportunity to build up buzz for the upcoming Android version of the application with the quote from Tech-Crunch.

We’ve known about Instagram being on its way to Android for a while now and have even seen possible leaked screens. This is the first we’ve heard from a first-hand user however as to how the application performs. What could Systrome mean by the saying the Android version is better “in some ways”? Our guess is, given Android’s strength in sharing to third-party applications, sharing is where the Android Instagram counterpart will really come into its own.

With nothing more concrete than “coming very soon” however, this is just another stoke to the long-awaited fire that is Instagram for Android. In the meantime, check out the array of lomo-effect apps available in the market now, our favourite being Lomo Camera.
