The latest iPhone 4 complaints fiasco has arrived in the form of ‘Glassgate’. Californian Donald LeBuhn is reportedly taking Apple to court, accusing the company of knowingly selling faulty iPhone 4s to customers.
Mr LeBuhn’s daughter apparently dropped his iPhone 4 from less than a metre in height, causing the glass on the front of the phone to smash.
He is demanding the company refund the price and repair fees of an iPhone 4. LeBuhn also wants damages for those who have suffered ‘overpayment’ due to faulty devices.
“Months after selling millions of iPhone 4s, Apple has failed to warn, and continues to sell this product with no warning to customers, that the glass housing is defective,” reads LeBuhn’s complaint.
First there was ‘Antennagate’ now ‘Glassgate’, the combination of complaints and problems with the iPhone 4’s casing. Recent stories include that of a Norwegian woman who had a handset crack when she picked it up after being left out cold.
Apple also faced iPhone 4 glass problems with some third party bumper cases which are said to be causing the handset to crack. The company subsequently removed most third-party cases from the Apple store.
Antennagate caused a right old stink last year. Some initial iPhone 4’s suffered from the so-called ‘death grip’ which caused the phone’s reception to drastically diminish when the phone was held in a certain way.
