iPhone 4S on track to be the best selling iPhone yet

It was never really a stretch to say the iPhone 4S was going to sell extremely well, and so far the indicators are pointing towards it being the best selling iPhone yet.

First, shipping times for every 4S model have slipped to 1-2 weeks on both the Apple UK and USA online stores, suggesting that Apple have run out of their initial online pre-order stock already. If you want to get your hands on an unlocked 4S on day one you’ll most likely have to embrace your inner Brit and brave the queue’s outside Apple’s retail stores.

Then there’s news that AT&T have received over 200,000 pre-orders in the first 12 hours of sale. Those numbers are made to look all the more extraordinary when you look back at the iPhone 4 launch last year, with 600,000 pre-orders in 24 hours across all the carriers in the UK, USA, France, Germany, and Japan. Taking into account that Sprint and Verizon are also offering the phone, plus all the international carriers, then the 4S is on track to break some records.

Could Three be seeing unprecedented demand as well? They seem to be offering the best deal on the 16GB model right now, with you only having to cough up £129 for the handset on a £30 a month two-year contract. In fact, the 16GB model is no longer available for pre-order on Three’s website – if you want one on their network, you’ll have to head into a retail store.
