To paraphrase the Salfordian Bard, stop us if you think you’ve heard this one before. But it looks as though another Apple employee has yet again gotten a bit careless with a prototype iPhone.
According to Cnet who got the scoop on this, a test model of the iPhone 5 went missing back in July in a San Francisco tequila bar.
Apple apparently managed to trace the iPhone’s signal to a home in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights area. A man in his twenties living there gave police permission to search the premises, but their efforts were fruitless.
Jose Valle, owner of the Cava 22 bar told Cnet that he remembers a man calling repeatedly about a lost iPhone a month ago, but hasn’t seen any trace of the device since. “I guess I have to make my drinks a little less strong,” Valle quipped.
Last year a prototype of the iPhone 4 was left in a bar by an Apple staffer. It was eventually bought by Gizmodo, which published pics and a video, earning editor Jason Chen a visit from the boys in blue. Charges against Gizmodo have only recently been dropped by Apple.
Presuming it’s not lost, (fallen down the back of a couch with no battery left) whoever has the prototype iPhone 5 will want to be pretty careful about how they go about using it; Apple will be doing everything it can to get its property back.
