iPhone customers most loyal, BlackBerry lags behind

Market research firm GfK has delved into the minds of 4,500 mobile users to find what they really think about their device in terms of brand loyalty and Apple came out the winner.

Apple steamed ahead with a whopping 84% of its users saying that they would purchase an iPhone again. Poor old RIM just can’t get a break with its BlackBerry, scoring less then 50% against choosing another mobile OS. Google’s Android sits on a number of different handset manufacturers and is doing well in the numbers race, but when it comes to loyalty it comes in second at 60%.

Around 70% of consumers surveyed said that they would opt to stay with their existing handset manufacturer for seamless integration of features and access to content.

According to GFK: “The scope for brands to lure customers from rivals has diminished and the richest rewards will go to those providers that can create the most harmonious user experience and develop this brand loyalty.”

GfK surveyed a cross-section of mobile consumers in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, China, the USA and Japan.
