Kindle update for iPhone: More free books, import through iTunes

A major update to the iPhone’s Kindle app, version 2.5,  has just been released.

Several improvements include allowing books to download while minimised, so you’re free to use the internet browser or check your emails while the books arrive. You’ll also be able to click and drag books onto your iPhone through iTunes.

Open up iTunes, connect you phone, and scroll down to the apps section. Find the Kindle app, select it, and you’ll be able to drag files to the grey box on the right, and onto your phone.  (See below.)

The update also allows Kindle users to download free classics from Project Gutenberg and other online libraries.

Just visit the web site, find the free book you want, choose download, and then the Kindle version. It’ll ask to “Open with Kindle”, and you’ll be redirected to the Kindle app. Free books, easy!
