How do you extend the battery life of a tablet without dramatically increasing thickness? By moving the battery to a completely different location. That’s what Lenovo has done with its new Yoga Tablets. Instead of putting the battery inside the chassis, the company has moved into a cylindrical handle at the bottom of the tablet.
That’s helped Lenovo to back in as many cells as possible, with the manufacturer promising up to to 18 hours of battery life for its Android tablets. Better yet, the battery housing serves as a stand for the tablet, and it can be manipulated into three different positions – not unlike Lenovo’s Yoga laptops, then. There are three different “modes”: Hold, Stand, and Tilt.
Specs for the 8-inch and 10-inch models include a quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, 1280×800 IPS displays, and either 16GB or 32GB of storage. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera and a microSD card slot.
Lenovo says that the 8-inch model will cost £199, while the 10-inch model will be priced at £249. The 3G variants, meanwhile, will bump the prices to £229 and £279 respectively. Both tablets will go on sale sometime in November.
