Ahead of the predicted launch later this month, LG has released some details of the G Pro 2’s camera.
The upcoming LG G Pro 2, expected to be unveiled at MWC 2014 at the end of February, will feature a 13-megapixel lens boasting optical image stabilisation, a technology that reduces the impact of jitters and hand shaking, as well as a slow-mo video mode.
Image stabilisation has already feature in the excellent LG G2 mobile, as well as phones from other manufacturers. It works courtesy of a ‘floating’ lens, which isn’t locked into the housing. This means it can stay trained on your subject, even when the phone is moving – something which is particularly helpful when snapping away in dimly lit environments, where the lens needs to stay open longer to suck in extra light.
According to LG’s release, the camera can also shoot slow-motion HD video, something that seems to be big in 2014 following the iPhone 5s’ adoption of the technology. There’s also a 20-shot burst mode, with photo resolution topping off at an impressive 3840 x 2160 resolution. The LG G Pro 2 also packs a 2.1-megapixel front-facing lens for video chats.
