LG G3 ‘Prime’ with better specs to launch in September?

Looks like the five-star LG G3 is about to get even better, with a new ‘Prime’ model potentially launching at IFA 2014 in September.

We already absolutely adore the LG G3, giving it the full five-star rating in our review, but it seems like LG still isn’t satisfied. The latest interweb rumours have a new model, the LG G3 Prime, coming at IFA 2014 – possibly the same time Samsung will launch its own sleek new update, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Alpha.

The main updates will likely be to the processor, making the LG G3 even more powerful. While the original G3 sported a SnapDragon 801, the G3 Prime will likely pack a SnapDragon 805 chip. This is a decent step up from the 801, as the 805 provides support for 4k displays – thus suggesting that the LG G3 Prime might rock an even more ridiculously sharp panel than the ‘Quad HD‘ display of the original.

There’s also talk of the LG G3 Prime coming with a proper metallic case, unlike the faux-metal plastic one found on the LG G3.

However, most of the online chatter points to the G3 Prime sporting the same look and feel, same screen and same camera as the original G3, so this is really just a performance update until the next flagship comes along.

The LG G3 Prime should be announced at IFA 2013 at the start of September, along with new handsets from Nokia boasting fantastic new camera tech, and the latest Samsung Galaxy Note phablet which can save you from sunburn.
