LG GW990: Huge screen with something for everyone

LG has announced a beast of a phone/tablet, the first to run Intel’s Moorestown platform. At a massive 4.8-inches, the panoramic widescreen display is mammoth, with 1024 x 480 resolution for epic video playback.

As you can see in the video (from MID Moves) below, multi-tasking is pretty darn impressive. Not only can you switch between various applications, the GW990 can also run three apps on screen at the same time by splitting the widescreen into three columns.

Web browsing looks like a real joy – that spacious screen when turned landscape means no need to scroll left and right. Behind that HD display, the GW990 packs 16GB of built-in flash memory with microSD expansion, 3D gaming, aGPS, WiFi, a digital compass, HSPA, a 5-megapixel camera and 720p output. Oh, and it makes calls too.

The downside here is that the GW990’s beastly offering won’t be easy to carry around – and when it launches in the second half of this year, it probably won’t be cheap.
